This comes as a surprise: Hoffenheim's Fisnik Asllani will not be joining RB Leipzig. Why the deal has fallen through after all, and what Hoffenheim's sporting director has to say about it.

Contrary to all transfer rumors linking him to Bundesliga rival RB Leipzig, forward Fisnik Asllani is staying with TSG Hoffenheim. “The fact that this transfer is not going through is anything but bad news for us from a sporting perspective,” said Hoffenheim’s sporting director Andreas Schicker, who highlighted the 23-year-old’s “remarkable development” in a TSG club statement.

According to Hoffenheim, the club and Leipzig had been in contact regarding a potential transfer of the forward, whose contract includes a buyout clause. However, the transfer fell through due to medical concerns raised by the Saxon club, the statement continued.

Last season, Asllani racked up 21 points in 35 competitive matches and played a major role in helping TSG qualify for the Europa League. “We stand by our player. Fisnik contributed significantly to our success last season, completed preseason training at his usual high level, and will be training with the team again starting next week,” said Schicker. Asllani did not travel to the training camp in Austria recently due to contract negotiations.
