Former Bundesliga coach Oliver Glasner can win a European Cup for the second time. With his team Crystal Palace, the Austrian will face Spanish side Rayo Vallecano in the final of the Conference League in Leipzig on Wednesday (21:00/RTL Nitro). Glasner had already won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022.
Almost 40,000 fans are expected at the Leipzig stadium, including almost 20,000 from England. Due to the conversion of the standing room into seats, the Bundesliga capacity of 47,800 spectators is not available.
For Glasner, the triumph would be a farewell gift to the club from south London. The 51-year-old had already announced in the winter that he would not be renewing his contract. Glasner's goal is to win the Champions League with a club.
