Soccer player Lisa Baum has not yet played in a senior international match—but she is joining Arsenal FC in a record-breaking transfer. The top club in the English Women’s Super League signed the 19-year-old midfielder from RB Leipzig. The London club did not disclose any contract details.
With a total transfer fee of 600,000 euros, Baum is, according to “Bild,” the most expensive player ever to leave the Bundesliga. Previously, Lara Prasnikar of Eintracht Frankfurt had commanded the highest fee of 550,000 euros in her transfer to Utah Royals FC in the U.S. “Kicker” reports a transfer fee in the high six-figure range.
“I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal and can’t wait to get started,” Baum said in a club statement. “This league is very competitive, and Arsenal is a great club. I want to win titles and continue to develop my game, and Arsenal seems to me to be the perfect club to achieve that.”
