Regional league soccer club Hallescher FC has condemned the violence at the home match against Chemie Leipzig. According to the HFC and police, numerous firecrackers and rockets from the visitors' block ended up in other spectator areas and inside the stadium. After the final whistle, supporters of the hosts tried to get through the interior to the visitors' block, which the police were able to prevent.
"Hallescher FC condemns all forms of violence. Provocations - regardless of which side - must never lead to physical confrontations or riots. Such scenes do not belong in stadiums," the club wrote in a press release following the goalless draw between the two teams.
"The club will carefully review the events in the coming hours and days together with the security authorities, the stadium company and the service providers involved," it continued. "Thoroughness takes precedence over speed. The aim is to clearly classify the incidents, clarify responsibilities and take measures to avoid similar situations in the future."
