Just a few more days, and the school year will be over. With the vacation ticket, students in Saxony can even travel beyond the state’s borders during their free time.

Children, teens, and young adults can plan trips throughout Saxony with the vacation ticket. For 36.50 euros, students, apprentices, and volunteers up to age 21 can use the ticket to ride all buses and trains until the end of the school break, according to several Saxon public transit authorities. Trips to Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia are also possible, as the ticket is valid throughout the Central German Transport Association (MTV) and thus extends to Halle and Altenburg.

The ticket is available at the service centers of the transit companies, at all ticket machines, and from many train conductors and bus drivers. To purchase the ticket, young passengers need their student ID or a customer card issued by the companies or transit associations. The ticket is valid only for the person named on it and cannot be transferred to others.
