When "50 3501", "41 1144" and "52 8079" gather in a former railroad depot in Dresden, it's a steam locomotive meeting. According to the organizers, special trains from Germany and abroad travelled to the traditional event at the weekend. Numerous railroad and steam locomotive fans came to see the historic locomotives up close. The event was being held for the 18th time.
The locomotives often have an eventful history behind them. They were on the rails for decades as freight locomotives, for example, until they were decommissioned. Today, they mostly belong to railroad and steam locomotive associations, which preserve them as museum locomotives.
