"The No-Horn—The Movie" celebrated its world premiere in Chemnitz. The animated film is based on the children’s book of the same name by Marc-Uwe Kling, which has sold more than a million copies and has become a cult classic for many children—as well as adults. Kling (44) directed the film and voices the lead role of the “NEINhorn.” “The film is important because I think we should all say ‘no’ much more often,” Kling said at the 31st International Children’s Film Festival “Schlingel.” The “NEINhorn” lives in the pink-and-red Heart Forest world of unicorns, but it’s different from all the others. It always answers “No,” longs for adventure, and sets off for Nowhere. Along the way, it meets the “WASbär”—who, of course, is named that way because he always says “What?”—and the “NAhUND,” whose favorite phrase is “So what?” Together, they must free the “KönigsDOCHter” from her tower dungeon so they can return home. At the premiere, the voice actors for the characters—including Nora Tschirner, Torsten Sträter, and Karoline Herfurth—agreed on the words that best describe the film: “No, yet, what, so what.” At the Film Festival for Children and Young Audiences, 194 films from 60 countries will be screened through October 10. Among them were numerous premieres, such as “Sammy and Frida: Chaos with a Scythe” and the third installment of “The Rabbit School”: “The Mystery of the Golden Egg.” Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de).
