The BSV Sachsen Zwickau women's handball team missed out on a place in the second round of the DHB Cup. Coach Norman Rentsch's players lost 24:26 (10:12) at Bundesliga promoted HSV Solingen-Gräfrath on Saturday. Former Zwickau player Pia Adams (5 goals) and Vanessa Brandt (5/1) played the biggest part in the hosts' progress. For the team from Saxony scored Ema Hrvatin (8/4) and Rita Lakatos (7/3) the most goals.
The first 30 minutes ran relatively balanced. Shortly before the change of ends, the Zwickauerinnen fell behind with two goals, but got the better start in the second half. In the 35th minute, BSV was ahead 14:13. A 5:1 run to 18:15 (40th) gave Solingen the upper hand again. But the guests managed to equalize again seven minutes before the final whistle, 21:21. In the final phase, however, the hosts pulled away again to 26:23 (57th) and lived off the cushion until the final whistle.
