The handball players of BSV Sachsen Zwickau are in acute danger of relegation after their sixth defeat in a row. Coach Norman Rentsch's charges lost their home game against HB Ludwigsburg 23:32 (15:16) on Wednesday. Antje Döll (7/5), Viola Leuchter and Xenia Smits (5 each) played the biggest part in the leaders' eighth success in a row. Arwen Gorb (7) scored the most goals for the hosts, who had celebrated their last success on November 16 against Sport-Union Neckarsulm (28:24).
The underdogs were able to hold their own against Ludwigsburg, at least in the first 30 minutes. After trailing 5:8 in the 13th minute, Zwickau fought back to within one goal at half-time. However, Ludwigsburg got off to a lightning start in the second half to decide the game early on. The visitors broke the BSV players' resistance with a 4:0 run to make it 20:15 (39'). Goalkeeper Barbara Gyori prevented a double-digit defeat for the team from Saxony with her ten saves.
