Without striker Timo Werner, RB Leipzig won their test match against FC St. Gallen 1-0 (1-0) in a lacklustre performance. The 27-year-old, who is about to go on loan to Tottenham Hotspur, trained on a side pitch at the Centro de Futbol in La Manga Club, where Leipzig are currently in training camp. Before kick-off, the club announced that Werner would not feature "as we are in negotiations with another club".
Leipzig got off to a lightning start. Xaver Schlager (3rd minute) scored early after Xavi Simons' low corner from the left. However, Leipzig then relinquished control in the first 45 minutes.
The Swiss second-placed team were more dominant and combined more confidently. RB were lucky when Chima Okoroji hit the post (36'). Without the rested Dani Olmo and Eljif Elmas, RB counter-attacked too hectically and imprecisely. In the second half, RB changed almost completely and dominated the game again.
