Weißenfels concedes fifth defeat in a row

The MBC Syntainics basketball team has suffered its fifth defeat in a row in the German league. The club from Weißenfels lost 84:91 (41:47) at EWE Baskets Oldenburg and slipped further down the table as a result. Nicholas Tischler (19), Christopher Clemons (18), Michale Kyser (14), Brian Fobbs (13) and Tomislav Zubzic (11) played the biggest part in the home side's fifth success in a row. Spencer Reaves (27), Akeem Vargas and Jure Planinic (10 each) scored the most points for Central Germany.

However, the team from Saxony-Anhalt only entered the game under protest and had asked for the game to be postponed in advance due to the bad weather. However, neither Oldenburg nor the German Basketball League agreed to this request.

The team from Saxony-Anhalt was only able to keep the game evenly poised until 11:11 in the 6th minute. Oldenburg then pulled 23:18 (10') ahead to 45:35 (17') and laid the foundation for its success with a 12:0 run to 59:41 (24') at the start of the third quarter. The visitors staged a comeback in the final period after trailing 48:67 (28') and closed the gap to 82:85 (39'), but were no longer able to turn the tide. The club from Weißenfels was only able to convert twelve of its 21 free throws and also had clear disadvantages in rebounding (25:36).
