SpVgg Greuther Fürth defeated Dynamo Dresden and spoiled the Saxons' comeback game in the 2nd Bundesliga. Thanks to double goalscorer Noel Futkeu, the hosts prevailed 3:2 (2:1) in a controversial and eventful match. The 22-year-old scored after less than half a minute and also in the 51st minute. Felix Klaus made it 2:0 for Fürth in the meantime (9'). The goals from Christoph Daferner (11) and Claudio Kammerknecht (74) were not enough for Dresden.
In the sometimes fast-paced encounter, promoted Dynamo largely dominated the game after a botched opening phase with significantly more shots on goal. However, there were not many compelling chances for coach Thomas Stamm's team in front of 15,631 spectators.
Double-winner Futkeu with scene of the match
Player of the match was Futkeu. After the former Frankfurt man headed the first cross of the game unchallenged into the lead, he provided the highlight of the afternoon in the second half: With a remarkable dribble in the penalty area, he skipped past three opponents and slotted home to make it 3:1.
After that, however, the visitors only managed to pull a goal back with a long-range shot from Kammerknecht. Just before the break, Dynamo were also lucky with a header against the crossbar from Fürth's Brynjar Bjarnason.
