Hannover 96 suffered a setback in the promotion race in the 2nd Bundesliga. After four wins, the team from Lower Saxony only managed a 0-0 draw against relegation-threatened SG Dynamo Dresden and lost defensive boss Boris Tomiak to a serious injury in the 75th minute.
Despite the draw, head coach Christian Titz's team still have a good chance of returning to the first division, now two points behind the relegation places. The visitors from Saxony are still in great danger as second last in the table.
A difference in performance between the promotion and relegation candidates was nowhere to be seen for a long time in front of 40,300 spectators. Dresden stood firm in defense and also repeatedly made their mark going forward. It was only shortly before the break that Hannover 96 stepped up the pressure. There were no scoring opportunities for either side.
Tomiak first almost scored, then out with a serious injury
The hosts increased the pressure in the second half. Elias Saad in particular caused increasing unrest in the Dynamo defense. However, Dresden put up a brave fight throughout the match.
Hannover's best chance was missed by Boris Tomiak (71'), who failed to beat Dresden goalkeeper Tim Schreiber, who reacted superbly. Four minutes later, the 96 defender suffered a serious injury in a collision with his keeper Nahuel Noll and cried out in pain. He was initially treated on the pitch for several minutes before being stretchered off the pitch.
