Runners-up SC Magdeburg decide the game early against Göppingen and stay in touch with the league leaders. A backcourt player celebrates his comeback.

SC Magdeburg has won its third Bundesliga home game of the season. The score was 31:24 (16:11) against Frischauf Göppingen in front of 6,569 spectators on Monday evening. Magdeburg's top scorer was Omar Ingi Magnusson with seven goals. The SCM has thus moved closer to the top group again and has collected one point more than league leaders Flensburg. The two teams face each other in Flensburg on Saturday.

Magdeburg opened up a small lead early on, but were unable to increase the gap. After just under ten minutes, SCM brought on Sergey Hernandez for the somewhat hapless Nikola Portner in goal.
