SC Magdeburg narrowly wins at HSV Hamburg

SC Magdeburg remains unbeaten in the German Handball League. After a great fight, the team of coach Bennet Wiegert won 30:29 (12:16) at HSV Hamburg and remains hot on the heels of league leaders THW Kiel. The victory was only perfect after a video review that denied HSVH a seven-meter penalty at the last second and the potential chance to equalize.

The outstanding Omar Ingi Magnusson scored 15 goals for SCM in front of 6,242 spectators. Frederik Bo Andersen was the hosts' best scorer with eight goals.

The Hamburg side, with backcourt players Nicolaj Jörgensen and Jacob Lassen initially on the bench, started without much respect for the Champions League winners. Frederik Bo Andersen made it 4:2 in the 6th minute and the home side had strong support in goalkeeper Robin Haug. The Norwegian saved a seven-meter penalty from Magnusson early on.

Magdeburg's coach Bennet Wiegert, whose team had only returned from the Club World Championship in Egypt on Friday afternoon, was visibly dissatisfied. His charges barely got a grip on the defense. Goalkeeper Sergey Hernandez only made his first save in the 15th minute.

Magdeburg can't get any composure in the game

At the start of the second half, Hamburg made more and more mistakes. SCM caught up goal by goal. Oscar Bergendahl tied the scores at 22:22 (44') and Magnusson gave Magdeburg its first lead at 25:24 (49'), which was saved with a lot of luck.
