The SC Magdeburg handball team have continued their winning streak in the Bundesliga. The team of coach Bennet Wiegert clearly won 36:21 (18:14) at newly promoted GWD Minden and celebrated its eighth victory in a row. Left wing Lukas Mertens was the SCM's best scorer with seven goals and the team remains top of the table with 25:1 points.
The Magdeburg club got off to a sluggish start to the game and initially made an unusual number of technical mistakes, with the result that the underdogs led 5:4 after eleven minutes. The visitors then stepped up the pace considerably and scored four goals in succession to take an 8:5 lead in the 16th minute. Although the SCM conceded a lot in defense up to the break, it reliably found good solutions in attack.
After the break, Magdeburg clamped down better in defense and also benefited from strong saves by its goalkeeper Sergey Hernandez. They continued to dominate in offense with their fast-paced play. As a result, they continuously extended their lead until the end.
