Just two days after the hard-fought away point in the Champions League, SC Magdeburg delivered a gala performance in the Bundesliga. The team from the city on the Elbe won 34:23 (15:11) at MT Melsungen. Felix Claar was the best SCM scorer with eleven goals.
Magdeburg's Elvar Örn Jonsson was back in the squad for the first time since his injury at the European Championships and Omar Ingi Magnusson also returned to the team. The game was intense right from the start, with Melsungen trying to keep Magdeburg out of the close-range zone with its fighting and offensive cover - but SCM gained a slight advantage (6:4/11th). Although not everything went right for the club from the city on the Elbe, it pulled four goals ahead by the break.
