The SC DHfK Leipzig handball team suffered its sixth defeat in its seventh away game of the Bundesliga season. The team coached by Runar Sigtryggsson lost 30:31 (14:15) at HSG Wetzlar in a duel between the league rivals. With eight goals, national player Franz Semper was the best scorer for SC DHfK, who are twelfth in the table with 12:16 points.
The club from Leipzig fluffed the opening spell in front of 2727 spectators. They initially failed to get a grip in defense and were mostly unimaginative in their positional attack. The hosts, who were brilliantly led by Dominik Mappes and consistently looked for the quick finish, therefore deservedly led 12:8 after 17 minutes.
