The SC DHfK Leipzig handball team remains winless in the Bundesliga. The team of coach Raul Alonso lost 24:30 (11:12) at the Rhein-Neckar Löwen. In front of 5,564 spectators, Lucas Krzikalla was the best scorer for Leipzig, who are now on 1:11 points. Matej Klima celebrated his comeback in the second half after almost a year out through injury, but failed to score.
Leipzig were overwhelmed by the hosts' fast-paced play in the opening spell and quickly trailed 3:8 (12th minute). However, goalkeeper Domenico Ebner then hit top form and sparked a 7:1 run by the visitors to put them 10:9 in front in the 21st minute. Ebner made eleven saves up to the break, but the Lions went in at half-time with a narrow lead.
The home side got back into its stride after the break and pulled 21:16 ahead by the 44th minute. Leipzig made numerous technical mistakes in attack and even a timeout by Alonso came to nothing. In the end, the Lions won completely unchallenged.
