The SC DHfK Leipzig handball team secured its first away win of the Bundesliga season at the fifth attempt. The team of Head Coach Runar Sigtryggsson narrowly won 29:28 (14:17) in front of 2,376 spectators at newly promoted SG BBM Bietigheim after a significant improvement in performance in the second half. Viggo Kristjansson was the best scorer for SC DHfK, who are now tenth in the table with 12:10 points, with nine goals. Franz Semper scored the winning goal with 66 seconds left on the clock.
The visitors got off to a determined start and led 4:1 after six minutes, but then made a number of hasty mistakes and conceded the equalizer through ex-Leipzig player Moritz Strosack (12th minute). The pace then picked up considerably at both ends. The game remained evenly poised up to 14:14 (25'), before Bietigheim was able to open up a slight gap by the break. They repeatedly exploited the space in the center that Leipzig's defense allowed them to do so.
