André Silva could soon be playing for Bundesliga club Werder Bremen again, according to the portal deichstube.de. Talks are said to have already taken place with the striker. Bremen are currently looking intensively for reinforcements in attack. Silva no longer plays a role in the plans of his current club RB Leipzig.
The Portuguese was loaned out by Leipzig to league rivals Werder last season. The 29-year-old failed to live up to expectations. He only managed one goal in eight competitive matches.
Prerequisite; cut in salary
In Bremen, he trained under Ole Werner. After leaving SV Werder, Werner became the new head coach in Leipzig and signaled that he would not be relying on Silva.
According to deichstube.de, Werder would sign the attacker permanently. However, the prerequisite is that Silva agrees to a deep cut in salary compared to his earnings at RB. The player is said to be willing to do so. In Leipzig, he still has a contract until 2026.
Silva is hoping to return to his old strength under new Werder coach Horst Steffen. Silva enjoyed the best period of his club career at Eintracht Frankfurt between 2019 and 2021, scoring 45 times in 71 competitive matches for the Hessians.
