The Austrian company is strengthening its soccer management department. A former RB Leipzig official takes over the position and is exclusively responsible for commercial matters.

Jürgen Klopp will have a "Global Head of Soccer Commercial" at his side as Red Bull's global head of soccer from October 1. Former RB Leipzig official Florian Scholz will take over this position. "This newly created position is clearly focused on all commercial aspects of our global soccer portfolio," company CEO Oliver Mintzlaff informed the Red Bull clubs.

The tasks are clearly distributed: Klopp takes care of the sporting issues and is also supported by former national team player Mario Gomez as Technical Director and Zsolt Löw as Head of Soccer Development, while Scholz takes care of the commercial and financial aspects.

Scholz once a journalist, then at RB Leipzig

"We had very positive and promising talks," said Klopp, who has held the post since the beginning of this year. "I am looking forward to working together and the fact that we are now developing our Red Bull Soccer portfolio together and holistically."

Scholz, 46 years old and a former journalist, started as media director at the then second division club RB Leipzig in the summer of 2015. Most recently, he was Commercial Director for RBL from summer 2020 until the end of March 2023. He will now support the managing directors of the Red Bull clubs in all areas of strategy, partnerships and business development and report directly to Mintzlaff.

In addition to RB Leipzig, the RB clubs worldwide include the New York Red Bulls in the USA, RB Bragatino in Brazil and RB Omiya Ardija in Japan. The company is the main sponsor of Red Bull Salzburg. Red Bull also has a minority stake in Leeds United and the French promoted team FC Paris.
