RB Leipzig failed to move closer to the top of the Bundesliga. The footballers coached by Jonas Stephan were held to a 0-0 draw by outsiders SGS Essen in front of 1515 spectators.
In fifth place, Leipzig are now four instead of the hoped-for two points behind places two to four, which are occupied by Eintracht Frankfurt, champions FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen (all 20 points). Essen remain in the lower midfield.
Leipzig continue to lack consistency. The team last managed two wins in a row at the end of September, followed by heavy setbacks in Wolfsburg (0:5) and Freiburg (1:4).
