Saban Uzun has bid farewell as coach of RB Leipzig's women's soccer team with a defeat. On Whit Monday, the Saxons lost 2-1 (1-1) at SC Freiburg on the final matchday of the Bundesliga. Janina Minge (28) had put the hosts ahead in her last game for Sport-Club before moving to Wolfsburg. Mimmi Larsson (42) marked the deserved equalizer before the break. In front of 4,300 spectators, Eileen Campbell (60') scored from a highly suspect offside position to decide the game for the Breisgau side. Promoted RB thus end the season in eighth place.
The RB players started strongly and created several good opportunities through quick reversal play. SC goalkeeper Rafaela Borggräfe was the focus of attention twice. However, she made strong saves against Larsson (26') and Gianna Rackow (38'). In between, Leipzig's time without conceding a goal came to an end after 332 minutes. Minge was left completely alone at the far post from a free-kick and finished easily. But RB also had another very good move. Sandra Starke played a strong pass to Vanessa Fudalla, who passed to Larsson, who skillfully flicked the ball into the goal.
After the break, RB were also initially the dominant team and recorded a shot on the outer net through Fudalla (50'). However, they then ran into a counter-attack, but the goal should not have counted. Campbell was visibly offside when the pass was made. Compensatory justice: When Giovanna Hoffmann scored the supposed 3:1 a little later, the offside flag went up without justification. Freiburg also had more chances after that. Leipzig's attacks were no longer as precise and quick, meaning the hosts were able to hold on for the win.
