SC Magdeburg is still worried about the availability of its playmaker Gisli Kristjansson in the decisive phase of the championship and in the Final 4 of the Handball Champions League. "I'm hoping for information soon and I'm putting maximum pressure on it because I need it for my head as well. But I have to be patient," said SCM coach Bennet Wiegert in a media conference.
Kristjansson injured his shoulder in the Bundesliga game against TBV Lemgo and was unable to continue. The SCM hopes that the injury is merely a stretched ligament. An exact diagnosis is still pending, as the Icelander is to be examined by various specialists.
"I would like to come up with well-founded statements, and I can't do that at the moment," said Wiegert and did not want to take part in speculation. SCM are one point behind leaders Füchse Berlin with two matchdays to go in the Bundesliga. On Wednesday, the team from Saxony-Anhalt will host SG Flensburg-Handewitt in their final home game of the season.
