The Potsdam Royals are once again German champions in American football. The team from Brandenburg won the 46th GFL Bowl with a 33:23 victory over local heroes the Dresden Monarchs and claimed their third title in a row. Around 20,000 fans provided an outstanding backdrop at the Rudolf Harbig Stadium for the rematch of last year's final. The Saxons missed out on their second championship since 2021.
Five touchdowns by halftime
Potsdam got off to an outstanding start and wide receiver Emanuel Bakare ran 70 yards into the Monarchs' end zone. The favorites went ahead twice - the Monarchs equalized twice. Shortly before half-time, Dresden's quarterback Justin Miller played a perfect pass to his teammate and the Monarchs took the lead for the first time at 23:16.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Potsdamers drew level again with a touchdown in the final quarter. Ten minutes before the end of the game, the outcome was completely open at 23:23. With an outstanding touchdown pass, Royals quarterback Xeaiver Bullock ensured the preliminary decision.
