Basketball Bundesliga club Syntainics MBC can announce a sporting coup with the return of Silvano Poropat. In the restructuring of the MBC management level, the long-time head coach will become the new sports director at the German cup winners. Following the departure of managing partner Martin Geissler on December 31, 2025, the club will be managed by two people in future. A commercial director is still being sought.
"With Silvano Poropat, we were able to sign our absolute preferred candidate for the sporting management. Silvano is an experienced basketball expert who is recognized throughout Europe and who also knows the league and - even more importantly - the opportunities here in Weißenfels inside out. Together with Silvano and Head Coach Marco Ramondino, I will put together the squad for the new season," said Geissler, adding: "All in all, I am reassured that I can place my successor in proven hands."
