The Dresden SC women's volleyball team failed to get revenge against Allianz MTV Stuttgart. Alexander Waibl's team lost 1:3 (25:23, 23:25, 19:25, 22:25) against the unbeaten league leaders after a thrilling exchange of blows. It was the third defeat for the German Supercup winners.
Conclusion from the coach
"We are closer than we were in the first leg, when we lost 3:0. But you can still see the inexperience of our young team and we missed too many chances at times," said Waibl. Immediately before the game, he had to do without the injured attacker Miku Akimoto.
In front of 3,000 spectators and a sell-out crowd, both teams fought an exciting battle at eye level for long stretches. In the first set, the hosts were able to make up a clear deficit with powerful serving and variable attacking play and convert set point through top scorer Marta Levinska. As the set progressed, however, Stuttgart decided the serve-and-return duel in its favor.
