The Niners Chemnitz basketball team suffered its third successive defeat in the German league. The team of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore lost 82:86 (73:73, 38:42) at Telekom Baskets Bonn after overtime. Amadou Sow and John Newman III were the Niners' best scorers with 18 points apiece.
After a slow start, the conspicuous Kevin Yebo led Chemnitz to a narrow lead after the first quarter (21:20) with nine points. After that, its shooting percentage from the three-point line dropped and unnecessary turnovers hampered the flow of the game. Bonn turned the game around by the break, but played too inconsistently itself to be able to pull away more clearly.
The game was also at a manageable level after the break. The Niners were too static in attack, but improved considerably in defense in the final quarter and produced an 8:0 run to take a 73:66 lead (38th minute). However, the visitors then hardly managed anything in offense. Bonn managed to equalize thanks to two free throws by ex-Chemnitz player Jeff Garrett Jr. and had more to add in overtime.
