The German league basketball team Niners Chemnitz has celebrated its first victory in the Eurocup after a convincing performance. The team of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore defeated the traditional Lithuanian club Lietkabelis Panevezys by a clear 86:67 (53:29) in front of its home crowd on Wednesday evening. The Niners' best scorer was wing Ty Brewer with 19 points.
The club from Chemnitz started its first ever Eurocup home game with great enthusiasm and led 10:4 after just three minutes. Thanks to their aggressive defense and high pace in transition play, they continued to pose insurmountable problems for the Lithuanians and produced a 10:0 run in the second quarter to move 46:25 ahead in the 18th minute.
After the break, the home side was conspicuous by a number of lapses in concentration, but the visitors lacked the means to capitalize on that in offense. The Niners' highest lead was 76:46 in the 33rd minute.
