Jürgen Klopp will definitely not be the new head coach at Leipzig, according to RB supervisory board chairman Oliver Mintzlaff. "I would do it before then, and nobody wants to see that," the Red Bull managing director told the TV station Sky before the cup semi-final at VfB Stuttgart: "So I can rule it out a thousand percent."
Klopp (57), who watched the cup match live on site, has been responsible for the soccer division at Red Bull as Head of Global Soccer since January 1 following his voluntary departure after nine years at Liverpool FC. Klopp's team also included Zsolt Löw, who took over as interim coach at RB Leipzig until the end of the season following the departure of Marco Rose. After that, the Hungarian is to work alongside Klopp again.
"A huge thank you to Zsolt for saying: Yes, I'll take on the responsibility here - even if he had a different plan," said Mintzlaff: "For now, the expectation is that he will give us - and he will - a new impetus, that we will get a different energy on the pitch once again."
