Milenko Bogicevic is to lead the struggling basketball Bundesliga club Syntainics MBC back on the road to success and ultimately to relegation. The Serbian is the new coach of the club from Weißenfels and will take charge for the first time on Thursday in Ludwigsburg. The club also announced that the new coach has signed a contract until the end of the season.
"I still remember the energy and passion of the team and the fans from my time at Alba Berlin. I'm looking forward to being a part of it in the future. The team has potential. We now have to find a good chemistry as quickly as possible in order to achieve the necessary victories in the future," said Bogicevic.
Long-standing assistant
Bogicevic will succeed the Italian Marco Ramondino, who stepped down at the end of January. Since then, sports director Silvano Poropat has been in charge of the team, but has not won a game in the BBL. The MBC has currently lost ten games in a row. Thanks to their good start to the season, however, they are still two wins away from the relegation places.
Bogicevic's last job was at Avtodor Saratov in Russia. It was his second stint as head coach. Prior to that, the 49-year-old was an assistant coach and is already familiar with the Bundesliga. From 2012 to 2016, Bogicevic worked as an assistant at Alba Berlin, where he won the cup three times.
