Second division soccer club 1. FC Magdeburg has signed midfielder Luka Hyryläinen from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Magdeburg did not disclose the duration of the contract. Hyryläinen was loaned out to SSV Ulm in the pre-season and played 28 games there in the 2nd Bundesliga. Most recently, the 20-year-old played for TSG Hoffenheim's reserves in the 3rd division.
"Luka brings a lot of elements that will develop our game. He is confident on the ball and has enormous intelligence. He will also be able to make good use of his height when playing set pieces," said Magdeburg coach Markus Fiedler on the new signing. Magdeburg's sporting director also praised the Finn's potential. He wanted to "help us get everything out of ourselves with the support of the fantastic fans", as Hyryläinen is quoted on the club's website.
