Leipzig wins at HSV Hamburg despite red card

Despite a red card, SC DHfK Leipzig turned up the heat in Hamburg. Despite their second win of the season, the Saxons remain bottom of the table for the time being.

Last-placed SC DHfK Leipzig have celebrated their second win of the season in the German Handball League. In their first game after the European Championship break, the team from Saxony celebrated a 35:33 (19:15) away win at HSV Hamburg. The best scorers in front of 2,512 spectators were Dean Bombac with ten goals for Leipzig and Casper Mortensen with eight goals for Hamburg.

Jan Schmidt was in the Hamburg squad for the first time. The signing of the 20-year-old pivot from second-division club TSV Bayer Dormagen was originally planned for the summer, but has now been brought forward due to the knee operation of Danish international Andreas Magaard.
