RB Leipzig's women's footballers ended SC Freiburg's winning streak with a 4:2 (2:0) victory, showing a good reaction after the 5:0 defeat at Union Berlin in their last game. The hosts suffered their first defeat after three home wins in a row and missed out on moving up to third place in the table. Leipzig moved up one place to 10th.
The team of coach Jonas Stephan, who will have to do without international Giovanna Hoffmann (cruciate ligament rupture) for a long time to come, were 2-0 up after just over half an hour thanks to goals from Emilia Asgeirsdottir (11th minute) and Marlene Müller.
Annabel Schasching even increased the lead to 3:0 (73') before Freiburg scored their first goal through substitute Svenja Fölmli. Lisa Baum for Leipzig (85') and Luca Birkholz (88') for Freiburg scored to make the final score 2:4. It was the first win for the visitors against the team from Breisgau.
