Jens Härtel will continue to coach third-division soccer club FC Erzgebirge Aue in the upcoming matches. After a detailed analysis and evaluation of all relevant parameters, including the solutions identified, the board of directors and sporting management expressed their confidence in the coach. After four defeats in a row, Härtel had come under considerable pressure.
The club management did not give those responsible for the sport a carte blanche or an ultimatum, but instead gave their backing for the upcoming tasks combined with the certainty that they would have to deliver results in a timely manner.
"Of course, everyone involved is disappointed about the recent series of lost games. The upheaval in the summer was huge with the replacement of almost half the professional squad, and we had all hoped to be able to implement automatisms more quickly and achieve success. However, everyone was aware that the process that had been initiated would require patience and time," said president Roland Frötschner.
Härtel and sporting director Matthias Heidrich assessed the latest performances in detail during the meeting and provided answers to the most pressing questions. Despite the disappointing results, the team was praised for its competitiveness, morale and unity.
