The left-handed player has injured his adductor and will be out "indefinitely", as the club announced following an examination at Leipzig University Hospital. The 27-year-old suffered the injury during the 34:27 win against Italy in the World Cup main round match and had to leave the World Cup early.
Semper had already missed the first four World Cup matches due to muscular problems. In his first World Cup appearance against Italy, the professional from Bundesliga club SC DHfK Leipzig played a key role in the success of the DHB team, scoring five goals to qualify for the quarter-finals against Portugal ahead of time.
