Thomas Stamm will continue his work as coach of second-division soccer club Dynamo Dresden. This guarantee was given to him by the bottom club's new sporting director, Sören Gonther, at his presentation. "He is a very good coach and has shown that he can develop players. There is absolutely no doubt that Thomas Stamm is our coach," said Gonther during a press conference.
Well-connected from the first to the fourth division
The former professional, who also played for Dynamo Dresden and Saxon rivals FC Erzgebirge Aue, is approaching his task with humility but also self-confidence, having been managing director of regional league club KSV Hessen Kassel until the end of the year. "The first thing anyone who enquires about me is told is that I'm very well connected. I built that up during my time as an active footballer. From the first to the fourth division, I'm very well connected, even abroad," said Gonther.
The first priority is to stay in the league. Gonther is optimistic that they will succeed. "Not much has been missing in many games, the gap is not hopeless," said the 39-year-old. In the medium term, he wants to establish Dynamo in the Bundesliga 2. But: "The league is so evenly matched. It can go in one direction or the other very quickly," said Gonther.
