FC Erzgebirge Aue lost the first game of coach Pavel Dotchev's farewell tour. The Saxons lost 1:3 (1:2) at Borussia Dortmund II. Kilian Jakob (6th minute) had put the Violets ahead with the first chance. Cole Campbell (11th) and Julian Hettwer (27th) turned the game around. Hettwer (74) scored again with his ninth goal of the season in front of 1,500 spectators to decide the game.
Aue goalkeeper Martin Männel saved an unjustified penalty from Michael Eberwein in the 33rd minute. It was Aue's first defeat in their seventh game against Dortmund. Dotchev's contract will not be extended at the end of the season, as Aue announced last week.
The first half had everything that soccer is all about. Aue tried to win possession against their hosts, who were extremely attack-minded, while the young Dortmund side relied on quick reversals. Both led to success, although Aue's speed disadvantages were evident in the hosts' attacks. After falling behind, however, they still had good opportunities to equalize before the break. In the 43rd minute, Yannik Lührs saved from Jakob on the line and in the first minute of stoppage time, a free-kick from Marvin Stefaniak hit the crossbar.
