SV Elversberg have temporarily jumped to a promotion place in the 2nd Bundesliga. The Saarland side won 2:1 (0:1) at Dynamo Dresden to end Dresden's run of success. Alexander Rossipal (12th minute) had initially given the hosts the lead. Nicholas Mickelson (58') and Lukas Petkov (78') turned the game in the visitors' favor in front of 29,155 spectators. Dresden remain penultimate.
In a lively second division match, the hosts initially showed why they were unbeaten in 2026. Attentive in defense, they mainly tried to create danger from the wings. A beautiful switch of play from the right to the left also gave them the lead.
Elversberg only got into the game better in the second half of the first half. The Saarland side repeatedly tried quick combinations, but Dresden's defense was largely secure until the break.
Elversberg more determined after the break
That changed after the break. Elversberg played more determinedly towards the Dynamo goal, driven on time and again by former Dresden player Tom Zimmerschied. Felix Keitel (49) hit the outside of the net, but Mickelson did better shortly afterwards when he fooled the entire Dresden defence and slotted home.
Dresden provided little relief. An overhead kick from Elversberg loanee Jason Ceka (70'), which missed the target, was the most noteworthy Dynamo attacking action in this phase. It was a different story for Elversberg, who turned the next clear opportunity into a second goal through Petkov.
After that, the now pressing hosts had plenty of opportunities to equalize. Elversberg waited for counter-attacking opportunities. SV goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof then saved the win in stoppage time.
