Third-division soccer club Dynamo Dresden also lost their second home game of the 2024 calendar year. Late on Sunday evening, the Saxons lost 2-1 (0-1) to Borussia Dortmund II. Rodnei Elongo-Yombo (23') surprisingly put the visitors ahead. BVB goalkeeper Silas Ostrzinsk (65) was unfortunate to concede the overdue equalizer. In a hectic final phase, joker Samuel Bamba (86) put the underdogs on the road to victory.
The home side started the game with a lot of momentum. Jakob Lemmer (28) and Luca Herrmann both narrowly missed out on the lead. BVB, for their part, only made an offensive appearance after a capital misplaced pass by the Dresden backline. Elongo-Yombo's goal was the visitors' first and only chance on goal in the first half. SGD continued to dominate proceedings in the second half. After an equalizer in between, events spilled over into the final phase. Dresden's Niklas Hauptmann failed to hit the post in the 86th minute, standing a few meters in front of goal, and Bamba sealed the home defeat on the counterattack.
