Dynamo return to winning ways after nine games without a win. Two gifts almost jeopardized their second win of the season.

Dynamo Dresden celebrated their second win of the season in the second soccer league after nine games without a win. The promoted team came away with a 2:1 (2:0) victory at Bundesliga relegated VfL Bochum. "Based on the first half, the success was not undeserved. I'm very satisfied," said Dynamo coach Thomas Stamm on Sky. The compact visitors played very confidently, especially in the first half, but had luck on their side in the second half.

Stamm started five new players compared to the 2-1 home defeat against 1. FC Nuremberg and also gave 19-year-old youngster Friedrich Müller his second league debut. In goal, the coach preferred Lennart Grill to the healthy Tim Schreiber, while Vincent Vermeij replaced Dresden's leading scorer Christoph Daferner in attack.

Rossipal scores and prepares

After a slow start for the visitors, Alexander Rossipal in particular turned on the heat. The full-back missed a good chance in the 18th minute, but seven minutes later the 29-year-old beat Bochum goalkeeper Timo Horn at the second attempt. In the 35th minute, a shot from Dresden captain Niklas Hauptmann rolled parallel to the goal line and Vermeij slipped just wide.

The Dutchman did better in the first minute of stoppage time. The center forward flicked a cross from Rossipal past Horn with his right foot and crowned Dresden's good performance in the first half. "The three points are extremely important. We've been a bit unlucky in recent weeks. Now it feels quite good," said the striker, who had been out of action for a long time.

Bochum misses out on an equalizer

However, two gifts after the break would have jeopardized the second away win after the 2:1 victory at Arminia Bielefeld at the start of the season. Firstly, Jakob Lemmer needlessly conceded a corner, after which Cajetan Lenz scored the equalizer (59').

Grill then missed a ball and the goalkeeper hit Bochum substitute Philipp Hofmann in the follow-up. However, the U21 international striker Francis Onyeka put the penalty next to the goal (76'). And Dresden still had to endure anxious moments before they could celebrate. "Especially after the games in which we didn't reward ourselves, the win today is very important after we had to suffer extremely in the second half," said Rossipal, "now we're enjoying the journey back."
