The Dresden SC volleyball team started the play-off semi-finals with a defeat. Alexander Waibl's team clearly lost 0:3 (20:25, 18:25, 23:25) in the first game of the best-of-three series at defending champions Allianz MTV Stuttgart. As a result, the Elbe club now have their backs to the wall at home on Saturday and absolutely need a win to keep their hopes of reaching the final alive.
The hosts dictated the action on the court from the outset in front of 2206 spectators. In contrast, the DSC women were unable to find their rhythm. Their reception was shaky, they were not able to make consistent use of their chances in attack and they were unable to find a way against the exceptional Krystal Rivers (19 points) in defense.
Alexander Waibl tried several changes, but the tactically well-positioned Stuttgart side repeatedly found solutions in attack and was also fully focused in defense. Waibl's charges made too many easy mistakes and also missed too many chances in the crunch time of the third set.
