The Dresden women's volleyball team won the top match at SSC Palmberg Schwerin 3:2 (18:25, 25:19, 14:25, 25:20, 15:12). Alexander Waibl's team thus remains unbeaten in its fifth Bundesliga match.
The home side got off to the better start, serving very powerfully and making effective use of their chances in attack with a stable build-up. In contrast, the DSC women's reception was shaky and they acted somewhat cautiously overall.
The picture changed in the second half. The visitors were now much more aggressive. They stabilized their reception and director Sarah Straube was able to use her attackers more variably. Dresden built up a seven-point lead at times and won the set for the first time at 24:15. However, it was only the fifth attempt that brought success.
S Schwerin stepped up a gear again in the third period, while the visitors made a few too many mistakes. But Waibl's team did not give in and fought back to equalize the set thanks to an improvement in block and court defence in particular, as well as the almost unstoppable Marta Levinska (28 points) in attack, who was later named the most valuable player. In the tie-break, the team from the city on the Elbe, who played uncompromisingly in attack and defense, quickly pulled 8:4 ahead and secured a well-deserved victory after a good two hours.
