David Raum is hoping to be nominated for the European Championship by national coach Julian Nagelsmann after consistently good performances in the Bundesliga recently. "It's a big dream to be able to play the European Championship at home in the summer," said the defensive player from Champions League participant RB Leipzig after the 1:1 draw at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Friday evening.
Nagelsmann will announce his squad for the tournament from June 14 to July 14 on May 16 in Berlin. "Of course, we have in mind that the season could go on a little longer," said Raum.
The 26-year-old, who has played 20 international matches since his debut in September 2021, has already featured at the 2022 World Cup and most recently in the DFB's 2-1 win over the Netherlands.
"The last training course was great fun. Something was created. Of course, it would be nice to be part of it. That's why I give it my all every week," said Raum and reiterated his summer wish: "It would be nice if that was rewarded."
