Christoph Dabrowski is to become the new coach of third-division soccer club FC Erzgebirge Aue. According to dpa information, the signing of the 47-year-old is as good as perfect and he will be presented by the relegation-threatened club on Tuesday. The newspaper "Bild" had previously reported.
Dabrowski was coach of league rivals Rot-Weiss Essen until mid-December 2024 and had twice led the promoted team to relegation. The designated coach and Aue's sporting director since the start of the year, Michael Tarnat, know each other from their time together at Hannover 96, where they played together as players.
No turnaround under Härtel
On Saturday, Aue parted ways with coach Jens Härtel after a poor start to the new year with three defeats. The 56-year-old had only been at Aue for just over a year. In 41 league games, the team scored 43 points under him. Aue are currently 15th in the relegation table, but are just one point off 14th place, which is enough to keep them in the league.
There had already been speculation about Härtel's departure in December. At the time, the club parted ways with sporting director Matthias Heidrich instead and appointed Lars Fuchs as the coach's new assistant. Ex-Bayern professional Tarnat arrived shortly afterwards.
