Bundesliga basketball club Syntainics MBC must once again look for a new coach. Predrag Krunic made use of an exit clause and thus prematurely terminated his contract with the club from Weißenfels, which runs until 2025. This was announced by the MBC on Thursday. Krunic will move to a Japanese club after paying a transfer fee. The 56-year-old had confidently guided the MBC to relegation this season.
It is the second time that the Bosnian-Serbian coach has left the MBC, having already coached the club in 2015/2016 and then moved to league rivals Bonn. In February, he played his 500th game as head coach in the Bundesliga against his long-standing club Telekom Baskets Bonn (1998 to 2005, 2016 to 2019) of all teams.
"My decision is not a decision against the Syntainics MBC, but a decision for my personal future," said Krunic, adding: "We have all achieved our goals, including me personally, after my first commitment in 2016 felt unfinished."
Managing Director Martin Geissler regrets his departure: "We would have loved to continue working together, but we understand that he has to accept the lucrative offer from abroad." The club would like to announce a successor at the beginning of June.
