SSC Schwerin's last Supercup triumph dates back to 2020, and the drought is set to end in Dresden. But there has been a major upheaval in the team. Coach Koslowski is therefore tempering expectations.

The Schwerin volleyball players have traveled from a short training camp in Turkey to the Supercup in Dresden with one win and one defeat in their luggage. Just over five months after their success in the battle for the German championship against Dresdener SC, the team would like to triumph over the cup winners again in the Saxon state capital on Saturday (17:15) and win the Supercup for the first time since 2020.

Head Coach Felix Koslowski, however, dampened expectations in view of the upheaval at the Mecklenburg club. Nine players left the club after last season, while eight new players have arrived. "We're traveling to Dresden with a young, newly assembled team that has a lot of potential, but will certainly need time," the 41-year-old admitted before the trip to Turkey.

Based on his team's performance in the test matches in Izmir against Turkish first division promotion contenders Göztepe (3:2, 1:3), Koslowski felt vindicated. "That was a physically strong opponent with a good serve, who challenged us in several areas and highlighted our weaknesses," he said. "We addressed these issues directly in the matches and then in training and started to work on them."
