Frederik Jäkel only played one second division game for SV Elversberg last season due to knee problems. Now the RB Leipzig player is venturing a new start with another second division club.

Second division soccer club Eintracht Braunschweig has loaned out central defender Frederik Jäkel from RB Leipzig. At the same time, the Lower Saxony club has secured a purchase option for the 24-year-old. Jäkel has already traveled with the team to the training camp in Austria.

Jäkel trained at RB Leipzig but has been loaned out repeatedly since 2020. He played for Belgian first division club KV Oostende for two years. He then moved to Arminia Bielefeld. For the past two years, he has been with second-division club SV Elversberg. However, he only played once for the Saarland side last season due to knee problems following a cruciate ligament rupture.

"He is coming out of an injury period, which he has now completely overcome," assured Braunschweig's sporting director Benjamin Kessel. "We are convinced that he will make a new start with us."
