VC Bitterfeld-Wolfen challenged the favorites for a long time, but failed to topple them. The newly promoted team lost its home game in the Volleyball Bundesliga on Saturday against fourth-placed VfB Friedrichshafen 1:3 (22:25, 25:22, 12:25, 21:25) after 105 minutes. Michal Superlak, who was named the most valuable player, played the biggest part in the visitors' success. Despite the eleventh defeat of the season, the team from Saxony-Anhalt remains in seventh place.
The home side lost the first set narrowly and also trailed 7:9 in the second. The home side turned the tables with a 7:2 run to 14:11 and were able to equalize at 1:1. After that, nothing came together for the home side for a long time. Friedrichshafen took a 2:1 lead at slow pace and was already 14:10 ahead in the fourth set. The home side fought their way back to 19:20, but were unable to force a tie-break.
